The ‘Sustainable Print Manifesto’, an independent, industry-wide initiative has been created to provide a simple, practical, and relevant sustainability framework across all print sectors.

Created by an industry working group the manifesto aims to show the print industry that collaborating more is the way to accelerate progress, while also providing a blueprint for continual improvement, shared learning, and improved collective progress.

Brought about by 11 working group meetings, a stakeholder summit, webinars and articles, the manifesto has been made collaboratively with printers, manufacturers, brands, retailers, technologists, consultants, and trade bodies.

Carlos Lahoz, Industrial Print Sustainability strategist at HP, one of the founding partners, said: ‘‘I believe in the value of print and the positive impact it has in the world. But I also believe that there’s still room for improvement.

“To accelerate innovation and progress, collaboration is key. Collaboration built on trust and transparency, towards a shared goal. This is what this manifesto aims for, and this is why I pledge to its principles.”

The manifesto also sets out nine practical principles that are easily adoptable, including choosing better, lower-impact materials and ink, minimising waste, reducing carbon and energy consumption and recycling and reusing operational materials.

The manifesto was launched on December 4, 2025, and was backed by founding partners and global trading bodies such as, HP, Kavalan, Bespoke, BPIF and IPIA.
